Boat transport and ship hire
The Greenland Institute of Nature has a fleet of dinghies, boats and ships that can be hired for boat transport. The boats are for field work and boat transport in the Nuuk area.
Boats
“Avataq”, which means ‘Hunting Bladder’ in Greenlandic. Work boat for field works in the Nuuk area. Donated to the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources by Aage V. Jensen’s Funds. Capacity: 2 crew + 4 passengers or 2 crew + 1,100 kg cargo
” Aage V Jensen II” Custom made fast transport / work boat in the Nuuk area. Donated to the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources by Aage V. Jensen’s Funds. Capacity: 2 crew + 8 passengers or 2 crew + 1,000 kg cargo
“Erisaalik”, which means ‘Waterproof fur’ in Greenlandic. Custom-made cabin cruiser for field work in the Nuuk area. Donated to the Greenland Institute of Nature by Aage V. Jensen’s Funds. Capacity: 2 crew + 4 passengers or 2 crew + 600 kg cargo
Dinghies
“Tunnulik”, which means ‘Blue Whale’ in Greenlandic. Buster for field work in the Qeqertarsuaq area
“Siuttoq”, which means ‘harpoon leader’ in Greenlandic. Buster for field work in the Tasiilaq area
“Niisa”, which means ‘Harbour porpoise’ in Greenlandic. Buster super magnum for field work in the Nuuk area.
Application
Application for booking of boat transport and boat hire is done by filling in and submitting the completed form to booking@natur.gl.
If the institute’s boats are admitted, please refer to private boat charter operators in Nuuk.
