Birds

Greenland Institute of Natural Resources (GINR) supplies guidance to the Home Rule regarding a sustainable management of the bird population in Greenland.

GINR supplies advice primarily about those bird species in Greenland that have an economic or cultural impact on the overall catch, in particular for sea birds.

GINR is a” Hearing” partner concerning changes in relevant legislation, for example in connection with government orders and decisions that affect rookeries or other important bird habitats, for example through mining or other means of harvesting resources.

The guidance reflects GINR’s participation in international research regarding bird populations that we have in common with other arctic areas through CAFF’s seabird group of experts (CBird).
