Pilot whale

Globicephala melas

• The long finned pilot whales is the sub species found in Greenland
• Length of 6-7 meters
• Weight of 2.300 kg for males and 1.300 kg for females
• Feed mainly on squid
• Found in groups of 10-100 individuals
• Reach sexual maturity when males are 12-16 years old and femals 6-9 years old
