GINR receives a new generous gift Published 20.06.2012

On opening the new boat house at GINR, which is donated by Aage V. Jensens Foundations (AVJF), Chairman Leif Skov from AVJF presented a new gift: a donation of DKK 2,25 M for a new research vessel. GINR already have several vessels for different purposes, but will need yet another ship with a large quarterdeck for a.o. oceanographic equipment. Equal to the research vessel “Erisaalik” this vessel will be equipped with hydraulic winch and a crane for handling heavy equipment and snow scooters. The new vessel will function not only as an extra platform to the increasing GINR activities, but with regard to dependability, it is also of major importance that the institute disposes of two research vessels with marine research equipment to function as back-up. The new vessel is a Somi fibreglass boat similar to the one on the photo, but the new one is built in accordance with GINR’s own specifications.
